My name is Elaine Tucker. I’m a certified Birth Doula, trained Postpartum Doula, Apprentice Midwife, Midwifery Assistant, Birth Photographer, Certified Lactation Counselor and childbirth educator serving Columbus & the Central Ohio area. My first birth support role took place in April 2011.

I love babies and the parents birthing them! My birth work focuses on being a positive support for laboring women + couples and bringing a culture of calm confidence back to the birthing process. My aim is to listen, support, inform, care and assist.

My dance with childbirth education began at the tender young age of 6, when I told all my gal pals how babies are brought into the world { my mother is a child development educator } and I was not invited to any more slumber parties for a good number of years. Fast forward to my preparation for my own pregnancy, labor and birth whereupon I discovered the role of the doula. A small desire to be a part of this profession grew inside me alongside my beautiful child and the day I birthed them, with the help of my own doula and my handsome husbeau, I knew this path was for me.

I have a passion for childbirth and a deep-rooted belief in the perfection of women’s bodies and minds for the work of childbearing. Above and beyond that, I believe mothers and fathers should feel empowered to birth their babies in the way they feel is dearest to their own hearts. I firmly believe every birth deserves a doula be it unmedicated, medicated or surgical. We owe it to our mothers. We owe it to our babies.

Bringing a new human into the world is sacred work. Studies of doula care show that women who had a Birth Doula were:

• less likely to have a cesarean section
• less likely to have pitocin interventions
• less likely to use pain medication
• less likely to rate their childbirth experience negatively

My menu of services is aimed at informing, empowering and supporting couples to find their own birth philosophies and voices for the birth(s) of their child(ren).
